The draw ceremony for the final round of the Africa zone of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers takes place today at the Confederation of African Football headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. The event will see five highest ranked teams square up against the remaining five sides.
Caf president Issa Hayatou who doubles as Fifa Vice President as well as Fifa Director of Competitions and Mustapha Fahmy are expected to be in attendance in the event that will also be witnessed by the national football team coaches of Egypt and Burkina Faso including the Angolan ambassador in Egypt.
Head of Fifa World Cup and Olympic Qualifiers Competitions, Gordon Savic will conduct the draw with the assistance of Caf Secretary General, Hicham El Amrani.
The event expected to commence at 12h00 (Cairo time) 11:00 WAT will also witness another draw to determine which team plays host first.
Nigeria’s Super Eagle will be hoping for a fair draw as they hope to qualify for their fifth World Cup ever while the Pharaohs of Egypt will be attempting a come-back in this soccer fiesta they last participated in 1990 when it was hosted by Italy.
