thumbnail Hello,

The Ajax midfielder and former Indomitable Lions vice-captain has been declared unfit for Saturday’s 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Leopards of DR Congo

Recently called back to Cameroon national team after two months of suspension, Enoh Eyong will not be playing against the DR Congo on Saturday in the second round of the 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifying.

Officials from the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) on Wednesday confirmed the injury of the 26-year-old Ajax midfielder and declared him unfit for the encounter.

No replacement will be made, according to coach Denis Lavagne, who said his bench was rich enough to make up for the absence of the Indomitable Lions’ former vice-captain. Meanwhile, the team’s ex-captain and all-time top scorer Samuel Eto’o will not be playing as well following his suspension.

Cameroon will host familiar neighbours DR Congo on Saturday at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaoundé. Both teams met last in Kinshasa last October during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, with Cameroon triumphing on a 3-2 score, but their earlier clash in the Cameroonian city of Garoua ended in a 1-1 draw.
