The World Cup winner, who will turn 41 in October, has been inactive since parting company with Aston Villa three years ago but is ready to take part in the inaugural competition
The World Cup winner, who turns 41 in October, has not played professionally since being released by Aston Villa three years ago.
However, Pires is now looking forward to resuming his playing career alongside the likes of Luis Garcia and Joan Capdevila, though he did not confirm for which side he would be lining up.
"I am sure the Indian Super League will be a huge success and I am delighted to be part of it," he told the ISL's official website.
The new competition, which will feature eight teams, is set to run from October to December of this year.
