The interim Malaysia coach has indicated he would welcome the Brazilian striker into the national team if he was genuinely interested in playing for the Tigers
Malaysia interim coach Ong Kim Swee has indicated that he will have no qualms about calling up Selangor FA striker Paulo Rangel if the Brazilian is naturalised.
Rangel leads the Malaysia Super League goalscoring charts with 10 goals in 13 games this season and Ong has stated that naturalising him would indicate a positive development to Malaysia football.
"What I can say is that I will welcome Rangel with open arms if he really is interested to play with the national team," he told Astro Arena.
The player himself is also interested to the idea of representing the Tigers on the international stage.
“I am happy with the report that relates me with the Malayan Tigers," he posted on his Instagram account. "Of course I would be proud to help Malaysian and open the door for my family and me to have Malaysian citizenship. Thank you for all your support.”
