The Nigerian coach believes that the aim of the club is to not get relegated this season…
Mohammedan Sporting coach Bola Moshood was disappointed following their 0-0 draw at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata against Dempo SC.
The Black and Whites had a few clear cut chances but failed to capitalize on them and as a result, they ended up with a point from the tie, as opposed to three.
“I wanted to win the game and that was quite clear. But how can you win a game if you don't score? We create chances but no goals to show. I don't know what happened and I don't know what to do. We have been doing very well even in the away games, but we have scored goals there also. It's not a question about playing well. We can play well, but the finishing is lacking.”
On being asked that his side couldn’t deliver against Dempo who fielded several youngsters owing to injuries to several players, Moshood said, “Seventeen year olds have also played in the World Cup. That's not a matter. Football is a game and you can be 23 or 30. It does not matter at all.”
Tolgay Ozbey was guilty of missing a couple of clear cut chances and Moshood defended the Australian and said, “Tolgay should be disappointed. He had a clear chance which he missed but I can't blame him either. You can't blame anyone for the miss. Even he would be thinking, ‘Oh! How did I miss that!’ He does not want to squander all those chances. He wants to score goals. There are certain circumstances that are beyond our control and it does not mean that we didn't play good.”
“He is a human being as well. If you can't score a goal from a chance, it does not mean that it's the end of the world. Look we couldn't win the game but we didn't lose the game. When you lose a game that's a worse result than playing a draw. You get a point also. We have a long way to go and remember our objective is not to win the league. This club has been in and out of the I-League for many years. So, first you have to first remain in the league and build on the lapses.”
Syed Rahim Nabi was left out of the line-up and Moshood explained, “Nabi still need some time. What's the use of playing him if he can't give hundred percent. Nirmal (Chettri) was also good but he has scope of improvement. Mehrajuddin (Wadoo) deserved the man of the match award.”
