National team manager, Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, has voiced his support for Safee Sali, after the player responded to the President of the Malaysia Sports Council.
National team manager, Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal has defended national striker Safee Sali’s actions after the player criticised the Malaysia Sports Council (MSN) President, Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong, regarding the defeat of the Malaysian national team against Bahrain last Friday.
While hoping that the issue would not go any further, Subahan has asked all parties to understand that the pressure that the players have to go through every time they face defeat is because they work hard in order to win for the sake of the country.
Speaking to Bernama, Subahan said: "The players face all sorts of challenges for the sake of the country and to be a footballer is not that easy - a lot of sacrifices must be made that nobody knows about.
"You need to know that for a footballer, they will see their coach more often compared to their own family."
Reports stated that Safee has replied to the statement made by Zolkples who showed no support to the national team after saying that he had already expected that Malaysia would lose the game and has no high hopes for the national team to qualify.
"For me, Safee was not being disrespectful but he represented other players who gave their best against Bahrain recently," he added.
Subahan however urged Safee and his teammates to forget what has happened and focus on Tuesday's game against Qatar in Shah Alam.
