Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha signs on for IMG-Reliance tournament

Louis Saha has become the first of eight marquee players scheduled to feature in the IMG-Reliance tournament which will take place early next year.
Former Manchester United striker and French international Louis Saha has been confirmed as the first marquee player to sign on for the IMG-Reliance league which is to be inaugurated in January of next year, Goal understands.

The retired striker made 20 appearances for France over the course of his career whilst winning two Premier League titles, one League Cup and a Champions League during his spell with United.

"Saha has confirmed his availability for the tournament and has signed with us," said a source inside IMG-Reliance. "He is the first marquee player we can reveal. The names of the other seven marquee players will be announced in a few days," he added.

Saha called time on his career this August and will be available for the tournament's player's auction which is due to take place in the first week of November. "With the tournament getting closer, there will be more announcements in the near future," he added.

The franchises auction will take place from the last week of October to 6th November. The eight cities where the franchises will be based are Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kochi, Goa, Delhi and Bangalore while Guwahati and Hyderabad have been maintained as alternatives.

IMG-Reliance, in partnership with the All India Football Federation (AIFF), have already signed 39 domestic players and 20 players of the recently disbanded AIFF developmental side Pailan Arrows for the IPL-style tournament.
