After bad run in the 2013 Menpora Cup, the Malaysia Under-23 side managed to pull off a victory at long last against their Indonesian opponents in Sriwijaya FC on Tuesday evening.

It was a back and fourth affair that saw the Young Tigers lose their lead twice after strikes from Thamil Arasu and D. Saarvindran were cancelled out by Alan Marta and Tantan respectively.

However, storming from the start of the second half, Rozaimi Rahman restored the bite in Harimau Muda’s attack, scoring just five minutes in.

He then secured his brace six minutes later to hand his side a convincing win against the Indonesian Super League team at the end of 90 minutes.

Rozaimi, however, should have found the net on several occasions given his tenacity upfront.

The 20-year-old was a constant workhorse in the frontlines, always pestering the Sriwijaya defenders.

His ability to evade his markers to make space for shots makes him one of the better strikers of his generation.

Top that off with top-of-the-line ball control, Rozaimi was clearly the best man on the pitch on Tuesday evening and it should be a matter of time before he breaks into the senior team for his country.
