Tengku Abdullah stated that there is no need for him to comment on who will replace Rajagopal until the Asia Cup qualifications are over
Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, the vice president of Football Association of Malaysia, has refused to comment and speculate regarding the national head coach position.
Rajagopal, whose contract may be terminated by the end of year, seems likely to leave the post and Tengku Abdullah added that the FAM would not make any decision until the Asia Cup is over.
According to Sinar Harian, Tengku Abdullah stated that “To be fair, I do not want to make any speculation but I am not going to deny that we have received applications from those who are interested in taking the responsibility.
“However we would not make any decision until the Asia Cup Qualification is over. It’s not fair for him, let him carry out his tasks and fulfil his Key Performance Index (KPI) which is to qualify for the Asia Cup,” he added.
Tengku Abdullah also insisted that FAM knows how to choose the new coach. “No need (for) promises. We want those who are qualified and the best for the team,” said Tengku Abdullah.
