The signing thus completes the foreigner quota of the Mariners for the I-League season 2013-14...
"We are glad to inform you that today after an extensive meeting with the chief coach Karim Bencherifa and the officials connected with the football team, the club has decided to recruit Kenyan striker Harrison Eric Muranda as our fourth foreigner for the season 2013-2014," Mohun Bagan managing director Anjan Mitra said in a release.
The Green and Maroon were also beleived to be chasing for the signature of United Sports Club's Ranti Martins, but the Nigerian hitman has until recently pledged his alliance with his current side, leaving Muranda to pair up with Odafa Okolie at Mohun Bagan.
Muranda played for the Kenyan U-23 team. He last represented Nairobi City Stars in the Kenyan Premier League and has vast experience of playing in leagues of Vietnam, Singapore, Maldives and Oman.
"The decision (to sign Muranda) was taken after evaluating his past football records which includes his experience of playing in South East Asia, extensive trails, including assessing him as a player and also as a human being, (bonding with the rest of the team) from 22nd August 2013 and comprehensive medical tests (including his health and fitness level)," Mitra added.
