This weekend it's non-stop, all-action street football with the Malaysian leg of Tiger Street Football
This weekend, Tiger Street Football returns to the Malaysian capital for the third year running, bringing with it a smorgasbord of top class footballing action and activities. Organised by Tiger Beer in partnership with leading pay-TV network FOX International Channels Asia, this regional sporting event will be held in the Old Wing of 1 Utama on August 17 and 18 and will see top non-stop, all-action football over two exciting days.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, Tiger Street Football is a high-intensity 5-a-side football tournament where teams compete over two fast-paced six-minute halves per match in a one-of-a-kind Tiger Street Football oval cage. Because the ball never leaves play, this means that players and spectators alike will be able to experience non-stop, all-action street football throughout the match.
This can't-miss two-day street football extravaganza will see 32 top local teams battling it out to become the 'numero uno' street football team in Malaysia on Day 1. On Day 2, the top four local teams will then pit their skills against four of the finest international street football teams in a contest of strength, skills and speed to see if they have what it takes to dominate Tiger Street Football Malaysia 2013. And remember, all this takes place under the watchful eyes of none other than Tournament Ambassador Fabio Cannavaro, the former World Cup-winning captain for Italy and 2006 Ballon d'Or winner!
Prior to the Malaysian leg of Tiger Street Football, there was already considerable action in both Cambodia and Australia as they hosted their first ever Tiger Street Football tournaments. In Phnom Penh earlier this year, local favourites Green Youth managed to win the local competition on Day 1, and even managed to mount a serious challenge in the international competition of this leg by pushing the eventual winners from Holland all the way in a riveting final match that ended 3-1 to the Dutch.
The Australian leg of Tiger Street Football 2013 in Sydney in May saw even more adrenaline-pumping action with local team Red Dragons winning the local portion of the tournament. As for the tournament on Day 2, the international teams proved to be too strong for the Aussies, with the street teams from Germany and Malaysia making it into the finals at the expense of the other teams. During an exhilarating final match, the Malaysian team, Equal FC certainly put up a great fight against their physically more imposing opponents from Deutschland, Street Eagles, but eventually lost by a whisker-thin 4-3 scoreline.
So what does all this mean for us in Malaysia? Well, with the level of street football action showcased thus far in the first two legs, coupled with the strong showing put up by our local team during the Australian leg, football fans can expect a scintillating showcase of top class street football right here in the heart of Malaysia.
Be sure to come join the action and cheer our local street football warriors on at the Malaysian leg of Tiger Street Football 2013 happening on 17-18 August 2013 at the Old Wing, 1 Utama. For more information, please hop on over to www.tigerstreetfootball.com today!
