Frank Lampard, John Terry, and goalkeeper Petr Cech will be among the stalwarts in Kuala Lumpur as Jose Mourinho gathers his best players for Chelsea Football Club’s ‘Here to Play, Here to Stay’ Asia Tour 2013.
The Portuguese manager, who has started pre-season training in his second spell at Stamford Bridge this week, is adamant at giving Chelsea fans in Malaysia the ‘best of everything’ as they embark on a three-nation Asia Tour which includes matches in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta beginning July 15.
The match between Chelsea FC and Malaysia XI will be played at the 68,000-capacity Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday, July 21, and is scheduled to kick-off at 9.45pm.
Gary Cahill, the England defender signed from Bolton Wanderers in 2012, and quickly settled in by playing a huge role in the Blues champions League success in Munich, will also be on board the flight to Kuala Lumpur together with Michael Essien, Eden Hazard, Ashley Cole, Branislav Ivanovic, Ramires, and latest signings Andre Schurrle, and Marco van Ginkel, to name a few.
“I am extremely delighted with Chelsea FC bringing on board players with tremendous amount of value and who have achieved incredible success in the English Premier League,” said San Boon Wah, ProEvents International Managing Director. “This is good news for all Chelsea fans in Malaysia. They must not miss out on this opportunity and I hope they will purchase tickets early to avoid disappointments.”
This year’s summer tour has been made possible once again by the concerted efforts of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and ProEvents International, who have been responsible for bringing top European teams who have visited Malaysia since 2001.
Mourinho, who took Chelsea to their first Premier League success in 2005, is looking to his long-time stalwarts such as Lampard, Terry, and Cole, to embed his winning mentality into the younger generation of players in the club.
For Lampard, who had extended his stay at Stamford Bridge for another year, and Terry, Chelsea’s ‘Here to Play, Here to Stay’ Asia Tour 2013 will mean playing once more in front of huge Chelsea supporters. The two were part of the Blues two previous tours to Kuala Lumpur since 2008.
