Wayne Rooney is set to tackle the A-League's best

David Moyes has close to a full strength squad to choose from for the game against the All Stars, but Nemanja Vidic, Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez will not be in Sydney

Manchester United have named a relatively strong squad to face the A-League All Stars in Sydney on July 20, although there are several notable absentees.

Veteran centre-back Nemanja Vidic is missing, as he battles a knee injury in an attempt to be fit for the start of the season.

Attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa and striker Javier Hernandez are not involved, with the former potentially set to link up with the Japanese national team to face the Socceroos at the East Asian Cup.

Hernandez meanwhile is with Mexico at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

England defender Chris Smalling (foot) and his international team-mate, forward Ashley Young (ankle), will not join United in Australia due to injury.

The other absentees are Portuguese forward Nani, who is recovering from a nose injury and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, as well as Scotland midfielder Darren Fletcher, who is yet to return to full fitness following a long-term battle with a bowel condition.

United face the All Stars at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on July 20.

David de Gea (GK), Anders Lindegaard (GK), Ben Amos (GK), Rafael (DF), Phil Jones (DF), Rio Ferdinand (DF), Jonny Evans (DF), Patrice Evra (DF), Alex Buttner (DF), Fabio (DF), Michael Keane (DF), Michael Carrick (MF), Anderson (MF), Tom Cleverley (MF), Ryan Giggs (MF), Wilfried Zaha (MF), Jesse Lingard (MF), Adnan Januzaj (MF), Wayne Rooney (FW), Danny Welbeck (FW), Robin van Persie (FW)
