Selangor head coach was let down buy his charges for conceding three goals but was rather pleased with their overall performance
Selangor welcomed Tampines Rovers to the Shah Alam Stadium for the second round of the 2013 AFC Cup and drew 3-3 in what was a match with end to end action.
The Red Giants took the lead on three occasions when Forkey Doe netted twice before Amri Yahyah found the third.
The visiting Tampines Rovers showed their fighting spirit as Aleksander Duric, Imran Sahib and Kunihiro Yamashita fought back to earn a point.
Selangor head coach, Irfan Bakti, was generally pleased with his side’s performance but felt that they could have done better.
He said: “We made silly mistakes to concede three easy goals because the players lack concentration.
“My reserves didn’t play to the level I expected them to but I had to field them to allow others to rest.”
Even though the Red Giants have busy schedule to deal with, Irfan is still optimistic that Selangor can progress from the group stage.
He added that “the Malaysian Super League and the FA Cup are not distractions,” suggesting that he will also be looking to field his best players for these tournaments.
Selangor will travel to Vietnam to face Sai Gon Xuan Thanh FC on April 3 in the third round of the AFC Cup.
