The signing ceremony was held at the AFC House Kuala Lumpur between UEFA President Michel Platini and AFC Acting President Zhang Jilong

UEFA President Michel Platini and AFC Acting President Zhang Jilong have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this afternoon at AFC House in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen their cooperation, help develop football and to focus on matters of common interest.
FIFA Vice President and AFC Exco Member HRH, Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, UEFA First Vice President, Senes Erzik and UEFA Fourth Vice President Marios N Lefkaritis were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.
Michel Platini underlined that Asia is the future of football and that it is imperative the two confederations work alongside each other.
"We(Europe) are the past and Asia is the future of football. Of course we are a stronger confederation and the AFC is a young confederation but it is important that we work with each other. We have a lot to learn from the AFC" he said at a press conference.
Zhang Jilong on the other hand stated that the MoU will help in developing Asian football to a whole new level.
"This MoU will help in pushing Asian football to new heghts," he said.
The MoU aims to facilitate cooperation between the two Confederations, promote cooperation and friendly relations between Confederations and to exchange information, knowledge and good-practice on matters of common interest.
