Eintracht Frankfurt’s Takashi Inui has been selected by Goal.com’s team of editors as the Asian Player for the month of September.
The 24 year old Japanese winger scored three goals in a very productive September as he helped his newly-promoted club to go unbeaten to the second spot in the Bundesliga. In the five matches Frankfurt played in September, Inui played a key role in each of the matches.
In their second league game of the season against Hoffenheim away from home, he provided the assist to Alexander Meir’s opening goal which they won 4-0. In the following week, he was voted as the top of the match by Goal.com readers for his performance against Hamburger where he scored the first goal.
Against Nurnberg, he scored the crucial second goal, which turned out to be the winner in the end, and was give a four-star rating by Goal.com’s German editors.
However his best performance was saved against defending champions Borussia Dortmund where he was lively down the left-hand side of the park, bombing down the wing after 10 minutes to drag a shot wide. He was the most effervescent presence for his side and got an assist for Aigner’s goal before scoring himself a minute later.
He had a top game against Freiburg too as his side went to register a 2-1 victory.
Meanwhile, readers recognized the efforts of Esteghal defender Pejman Montazeri as their pick for the Asian Player of the Month. In the three matches the Iranian side played last month, only one goal was conceded which only goes to highlight the top work of the 29 year old centre-back.
