Iran's Reza Haghighi named's Asian Player of the Month for July

The 23-year-old Sepasi man impressed the most readers in a poll that included several of the 2012 London Olympics' top performers, winning the honour for the first time readers have at last weighed in on July's Asian Team of the Month, awarding their Player of the Month honours to Iranian midfielder Reza Haghighi.

The 23-year-old got Fajr Sepasi's 2012-2013 campaign off to a good start, helping them to the top of the table with two solid performances that included a goal in their 3-2 win at Persepolis.

Haghighi, who dominated the reader's poll with nearly 50 per cent of the votes across all Asian editions, was followed by Manchester City trialist Omar Abdulrahman, Japanese speedster Kensuke Nagai, and his team-mate Maya Yoshida.

By receiving the honour from's readers across the continent, Haghighi joins players such as two-time winner Shinji Kagawa, Youssef Mohamad, Philip Younghusband and Amad Al Hosni.
