Imoh Ezekiel scores twice to help Standard into third Europa League qualifying round

The Nigerian youngster scored two goals in his second European game to help his side into the third qualifying stage

Nigerian youngster, Imoh Ezekiel scored two goals on Thursday night to help Standard Liege to a comprehensive 6-2 victory over Finnish side, KR Reykjavík.

The 19-year-old played in last week’s first leg 3-1 win but did not score. He made up for that disappointment by scoring in the 68th and 73rd minutes after coming on for Michy Batshuayi in the 57th minute. Ezekiel could have had a hat-trick late on in the game but the KR post denied him.

Standard Liege have been pitted against Greek side, Xanthi in the next qualifying round. The first leg comes up next week Wednesday in Greece.

In other Europa qualifying matches, John Chibuike failed to qualify with Rosenborg. Chibuike had scored three goals in the previous round but he could not replicate that form against St. Johnstone. The Scottish side won 2-1 on aggregate.
