The Belgium international goalkeeper insists that his side are capable of beating any opponent at the Estadio Vicente Calderon - even the reigning European championsThibaut Courtois says that Atletico Madrid are good enough to beat Champions League holders Bayern Munich should they be drawn against the Bundesliga side in the quarter-finals of the competition.
The Belgium international, who is on loan at Atletico from Chelsea, played an important role as Los Colchoneros eased into the last eight after beating AC Milan 4-0 at the Estadio Vicente Calderon on Tuesday to finish with a 5-1 aggregate scoreline.
And Courtois is confident his side will put up a good fight against whichever opponent they meet in the quarter-finals - even the reigning European champions.
He told the press: "Bayern are so strong now - they are winning everything in Germany - but we can play any team now and they will suffer in the Vicente Calderon.
"Hopefully we can move on to the semis but there are still many games ahead.”
The goalkeeper was asked if there was any clause in his loan deal which would prevent him from playing against his parent club should they meet in the next round but replied: "I do not think I have a clause not to play against Chelsea. It would be a great game."
The youngster's promising displays have seen him linked with a summer move to Real Madrid in recent weeks but Courtois dismissed the rumours as a way for people to unsettle him and his temporary employers.
"I do not think Chelsea will sell me," he declared. "I have a contract for two more years.
"It is all press talk, just to destabilise us, but we are focused on our football and on doing our job."
