Blind thought win was Ajax 'destiny'

The 23-year-old felt his side had done enough to win Tuesday's game, only for Mario Balotelli's controversial late penalty to rob them of victory against AC Milan in Europe
Daley Blind has revealed he thought Ajax were destined to beat Milan on Tuesday before they were left heartbroken by the Rossoneri's last-gasp equaliser.

Mario Balotelli's controversial late penalty snatched a point for the Rossoneri after Stefano Denswil's 90th-minute strike looked to have earned the Dutch side a precious win.

"When we scored late on and Ricardo van Rhijn stopped a shot on the line, I thought we were destined to win," the 23-year-old defender told

"It’s a shame about the result because I thought we played very well. We dominated in the first half without really creating many chances.

"In the second [half], Milan improved and we were no longer able to impose our game on them."

The result leaves Ajax third in Group H with one point - behind Milan and Barcelona, who have four and six points respectively.
