Pique taken to hospital after Victor Valdes collision

The Spain international had to be withdrawn in the first half of the European match and will undergo a check-up to determine if he has sustained any damage
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been taken to a local hospital following his clash with team-mate Victor Valdes in the 2-2 Champions League second-leg draw against Chelsea at Camp Nou.

The Spanish defender collapsed to the floor after colliding with the goalkeeper just 17 minutes into the game.

He returned to the pitch after being given medical care, but felt unwell and had to be replaced by Dani Alves nine minutes later.

Barca have announced that the 25-year-old has not sustained damage from the challenge, but will spend the night at the hospital under observation.

The Catalan giants have been denied the chance to defend their Champions League crown as a result of the 3-2 aggregate defeat to Chelsea following a 1-0 loss at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the semi-final tie.
