Fabio Coentrao believes that Real Madrid are one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season.
The Spanish giants will take on CSKA Moscow in the round of 16 after securing the best-ever run any team has ever had in the competition's group stage, with a +17 goal record and a perfect 18 points from six matches.
"Madrid have a team with great quality, we have some of the best players and every club in this stage of the Champions League is a favourite, so we are one of the favourites," he said during a press conference on Monday.
Coentrao did not feature in the Primera Division encounter against Racing Santander on Saturday but was not upset at sitting on the bench in the 4-0 win.
"I want to play, I work every day to play, but we have a team with great quality," he added.
"I am prepared for anything, whether I play or not, but the coach is the one to decide.
"What I want is to play, whether it is at left-back or right-back. I want to help the team to win matches."
The Portugal international then added that the freezing conditions in Russia would be handicap for his side.
"The cold weather will make it a hard game and CSKA's quality will also make things difficult for us," he added. "We have to step onto the pitch, whether it is cold or not and leave with a victory."
Tuesday's first-leg clash in Moscow will start at 18.00CET.
