After taking the Premier League by storm since they were promoted a couple of seasons back, Swansea City have gone from strength to strength as they won the Capital One Cup last season, earning them a spot in Europe.
But somehow, they have struggled for majority of this season as they hover around the relegation area throughout the campaign. The victory over Norwich City last weekend saw only their second victory in nine games and lifted the Welsh outfit seven points clear of the relegation zone.
And for that, the south Wales side have Jonathan De Guzman to thank as his brace helped his side register a 3-0 win over their opponents.
The Dutchman’s two brilliantly taken goals marked an impressive all-rounded dynamic performance as he is awarded Goal Singapore's EPL Player of the Week award.
He has scored only four goals this campaign, but it is his all-round performances that have impressed his manager Garry Monk the most.
And such was the quality of his performance that Monk is keen to make his two-year loan deal from Villareal permanent.
"For me, he was our man of the match [on Saturday], he epitomised everything that was good about us - his movement, his desire to get the ball back and to get two goals,” Monk said after the match about the Dutchman.
Swansea will keep needing performances like this from De Guzman if they want to keep climbing up the Premier League table.
