Moyes should be sacked, say Goal readers

The Manchester United boss found his position called into question following Sunday's home defeat to Liverpool and the majority of votes in our poll suggest it's time for him to go

Goal readers have overwhelmingly voted that under-fire Manchester United manager David Moyes should be sacked.

The Scot has overseen one of the most disappointing campaigns in recent memory at Old Trafford, with United way off the pace to finish in the top four in the Premier League as well as facing an uphill struggle to advance in Europe having already been knocked out of the FA Cup.

Sitting in seventh place in the table with nine games to go, the Red Devils are 12 points behind fourth-placed Manchester City after Sunday's humiliating defeat to Liverpool, and stand to miss out on a place in the Champions League for the first time in 19 years.

Goal exclusively revealed that Moyes spent Monday locked in crisis talks with his backroom staff in the aftermath of the defeat to Brendan Rodgers's title-chasing team, as two penalties from Steven Gerrard and a Luis Suarez strike convincingly put United to the sword.

Question marks are being raised over Moyes's position at the club more so than ever before in a season that has appeared to go from bad to worse with every passing week for the Premier League champions.

And Goal readers aren't convinced that Moyes should be allowed to stay on any longer at Old Trafford despite signing a six-year deal last summer.

Ahead of Wednesday's crucial Champions League tie against Olympiakos, a massive 62.4 per cent of readers have voted that the the former Everton boss should be ousted from his position as manager.
