thumbnail Hello,

The Chelsea playmaker has been told he can leave by manager Jose Mourinho and could well be a good addition if he does decide to move from Stamford Bridge

Chelsea might have brushed off Southampton in a 3-0 away victory on Thursday night, but there appeared to be at least one unhappy figure in their camp.

Playmaker Juan Mata started the game but was substituted after just 53 minutes with the score at 0-0, as Oscar came on to score one and set up another for fellow substitute Willian.

However, all eyes were on Mata when the change was made as the Spain playmaker walked straight past manager Jose Mourinho on the touchline before slamming his chair in the dugout.

The Portuguese insisted after the match that he wanted the 25-year-old to stay, but suggested that the "door is open" for Mata to leave Stamford Bridge.

With Manchester United struggling in David Moyes's first season and crying out for a creative midfielder, a move for Chelsea's Player of the Season for the last two years could be a good idea.

That seems to be the sentiment of the majority of Goal Singapore readers, with 65.6% believing that the Red Devils should raid the Blues for the silky-smooth Mata. A caveat will be that the midfielder will not be able to play in the Champions League, but Mata could still aid them in their quest for a top-four finish given that United currently sit seventh.

The remaining 34.4% were of the opinion that Mata is not the right man, perhaps preferring other mooted targets like Atletico Madrid's Koke, Atletico Bilbao's Ander Herrera and Inter Milan's Fredy Guarin.
