Malaysia went home empty handed for the first time in three Sea Games as Ong Kim Swee's side failed to lift themselves up from the semi-final disappointment against Singapore. Our neighbours across the causeway, took the bronze medal by defeating Malaysia in the 3rd place playoff.

Singapore have their instrumental captain to thank for the 2-1 win. Hariss Harun scored 2 very early goals to further dampen the spirits of the Young Tigers. For his first effort, Hariss was strong to withstand the challenge of Izham Tarmizi and showed his wonderful anticipation when he scored the second goal. Only the post denied him the hattrick and the match ball.

Overall, Hariss not only will be praised for his goals but his performance in other aspects was also impressive. Given the number of games that they have played up to this point, it is amazing how Hariss remained tireless and worked diligently to ensure that his team gets the required support in defensive and attacking situations.

Unless the competition rules change, this will be Hariss' swansong appearance at these games. Bronze may not be the ideal farewell gift for him but at the very least, he doesn't have to go home empty handed, completing a hattrick of bronze medals that he has won for Singapore.
