thumbnail Hello,

The Scot’s transfer dealings so far at Manchester United do not inspire much confidence in the upcoming January transfer window

David Moyes’ failure in the transfer market window prior to start of the season is considered to have been a failure.

The new Manchester United manager, who took over from Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign at the end of last season, started his transfer campaign with a lot of promise as he chased the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.

But things quickly took a turn for the worse as Thiago favoured a move to Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich, while Fabregas turned United down and committed himself to Barcelona. And Herrera, well, let’s not even get started about that entire farce.

The sucker punch from the disaster was the over-priced fee of Fellaini, the “back-up” signing they got on transfer dateline day, who has yet to prove his worth at United as he ghosts in and out of the United line-up.

Last week, Moyes’ interest in Inter’s Fredy Guarin was brought to light as he sent representatives to Italy to discuss a potential January transfer. However, it seems Chelsea are now poised to sign the midfielder after it was revealed he would prefer to play under Jose Mourinho. The player’s agent has also confirmed that talks over a tranfer have already taken place with Chelsea.

It seems to be a case of déjà vu for Moyes, as he struggles to bring in yet another signing.

Because of this, Goal Singapore readers feel Manchester United is set for another transfer market disaster next month, with 64.7% of readers voting that Moyes’ reputation in the transfer market will take another beating. Only 35.4% believe that he would have learned his lesson and go about the transfer window period better.

Poll of the day

Chelsea's interest in Guarin means Man United look set for another transfer market disaster in January. Do you agree?
