Goal Predicts Ghana League: Bechem 0-0 Kotoko, Lions 0-1 Hearts, Chelsea 1-0 Edubiase

Goal Ghana’s Features Editor Nana Frimpong is in the hot seat, offering his predictions ahead of the seventh round of Ghana Premier League matches

It is another week of Ghana Premier League action, and as usual we pick the thoughts of our pundits regarding match predictions. This week, we turn to our own Goal Ghana personnel, Nana Frimpong.

King Faisal 1-2 Medeama Sc

Neither club is in particularly good form, lying in the lower half of the table with one just atop the other (Medeama in 11th, Faisal 12th), having failed to pick maximum points on Matchday 6. The Maulves and Yellows could edge this one, though.

Hasaacas 2-0 Inter Allies

Another clash between two teams that have performed poorly thus far. Hasaacas and Inter Allies, both new entrants, occupy the latter two-thirds of the relegation zone with the former only three points better off. Sekondi, however, is a daunting venue for most clubs to visit, and Hasaacas would be eager to recover quickly from an away defeat to leaders Kotoko before their own fans. Allies' quest for their first league points this season could have to be delayed for a while longer.

Bechem 0-0 Asante Kotoko

It could be the weekend when the faultless winning record - six wins out of six so far - of leaders and reigning champions Kotoko could come to an end. Premier League clubs from Brong Ahafo are renowned for their defensive fortitude at home, and Bechem United could live up to the trend even as they come up against Didi Dramani's Porcupine Warriors, a team whose points tally for the season is twice theirs.

Chelsea 1-0 Edubiase

Berekum Chelsea would be counting on a factor identical to Bechem United's, namely home support, as they take on fellow strugglers New Edubiase at the Golden City Park. The clubs are tied on points (5), and like Medeama/Faisal and Hasaacas/Allies, they lie in close order (13th and 14th respectively in the current standings) hence there is very little to pick between them, thus the potential essence of Bechem's home advantage.

Heart of Lions  0-1 Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak have recovered from a Matchday 2 blip against rivals Kotoko to string a run of four wins in a bid to reclaim lost glory, yet a date in Kpando against Hearts of Lions, a team lying just four points and two spots behind, could prove the sternest test yet of their resolve. That said, the Phobians have been impressive on the road this season, chalking improbable victories away to Edubiase, Bechem and Hasaacas, and thus could dream of a similar result against Lions, albeit of a narrower sort.

Liberty 2-1 Aduana

Liberty Professionals host the season 2009-10 winners at the Carl Reindorf, desperately seeking three points that would take them a point beyond their visitors. Both clubs took 1-0 wins from the last matchday, implying that should Liberty fulfill this prediction, they would have to do so labouring against an Aduana side sitting just outside the Top 4.

Ashantigold 2-0 Dwarfs

Dwarfs and third-placed Ashantigold, managed by two of the finest technical brains on the domestic scene, will battle each other at the latter's Len Clay fortress in another high-octane encounter. In the end, though, Ashgold, six league places ahead of their guests, could find the points on offer easier to pick up than Dwarfs' giant-killing reputation suggests.

Amidaus 2-2 All Stars

This fixture could prove something of a goal-fest, with the sides involved scoring three apiece in their most recent GPL games and conceding a total of three as well. All Stars go into this game fully aware of the possibility of overtaking Amidaus should they snatch an away win, while their guests themselves would be eager to boost their own chances of reaching the Top 4 places. In the end, they might probably have to share the spoils in what promises to be a certain thriller.
