The nation's favorite footballing son emerged as the overwhelming choice to take over the LionsXII hot-seat in our poll
With V. Sundramoorthy's departure already being whispered about for a few months before he officially left this week, it was no surprise to see Fandi's name being bandied about. This was especially so after his tenure at Malaysian Super League side Johor Darul Takzim ended.
It is hardly a surprise that Singapore's favorite footballing son was the overwhelming choice to take over Sundram, with 63% of readers pinpointing him as their man. In comparison, the next highest choice was former SAFFC (now Warriors FC) coach Richard Bok, with only 10.9% of the votes. The rest of the votes were scattered between seven other names with Aide Iskandar, another person touted as a likely successor, garnering 5.5%.
The Football Association of Singapore has indicated an advertisement to recruit the next LionsXII coach will be placed and Fandi is expected to throw his name in the hat. If demands can be compromised upon during negotiations, then fans may just get their wish.
