thumbnail Hello,

The Goal.com team selects the S.League Team of the Week after the end of Round 5

Tampines Rovers and Albirex Niigata (S) both made it five wins out of their first five games during Round 5 of the 2013 Great Eastern YEO's S.League, with the former topping the table by virtue of goal difference after beating Warriors FC 1-0 and Harimau Muda B 2-1.

As such it comes as no surprise that four Stags feature in our pick of the best 11 players, with Shaiful Esah starring in defence. A constant threat from set-pieces, the Singapore left-back also laid on the opening goal for Aleksandar Duric against Harimau Muda. The veteran striker did so after coming on as a substitute, and played his part in the second goal, which was scored by Shahdan Sulaiman. The playmaker's volley capped off a solid outing in midfield, where skipper Mustafic Fahrudin was dominating alongside him. The defensive midfielder has protected his back four superbly so far, and is a big reason why they have conceded a league-best two goals this season.

Speaking of solidarity at the back, both Hasree Zais and Obadin Aikhena stood out as well. Hasree netted in Hougang United's 2-3 loss to Tanjong Pagar United and gave a good account of himself, while Obadin was a rock in Balestier Khalsa's 2-0 win over struggling Warriors FC. Team-mate Park Kang Jin was "different class" according to coach Darren Stewart, as the Korean put in an indefatigable shift and topped it with a goal.

Compatriot Song Ui Young joins him in midfield after a sterling display for Home United against Geylang International. He put the Protectors in front with a neat strike after Lee Kwan Woo had levelled matters, before releasing Jordan Webb with a stunning 50-yard ball to score the third in a 3-1 turnaround. The result was a little harsh on Eagles custodian Joey Sim, who kept the score down with a series of good saves on his debut.

With 13 goals so far, Tanjong Pagar are the league's joint-highest scorers and the French pair of Kamel Randani and Ismael Benahmed were instrumental in their latest success against Hougang. Randani was a thorn throughout with his intelligent play, while Benahmed dragged the Jaguars back on level terms at 2-2 before striking a lovely volley from the edge of the area to win it for them seven minutes from time.
