The Barcelona goalkeeper revealed his sadness to see the Frenchman leave Camp Nou, further underlining his own desire to stay at the clubVictor Valdes has paid tribute to Eric Abidal after the defender played his final game for Barcelona against Malaga on Saturday.
Abidal confirmed late last month that he would leave the club this summer in order to pursue first-team football, having returned to match fitness following a lengthy battle will ill-health over the past 18 months.
"Today not only a great example but a brother is leaving us," Valdes wrote on his official Facebook page, along with a picture of himself alongside Abidal.
"Thanks, Abi! And thank you all for your support. See you next year to continue doing great together, Barca. Hugs."
Valdes' comments further underline the Spaniard's intention to see out his contract with Barcelona, however, after the 31-year-old confirmed on Friday that he will play one final season at Camp Nou despite heavy speculation linking him with Monaco.
