The club captain of the capital side has once again been dropped to the bench by Jose Mourinho, who is also without first-choice centre-backs, Pepe and Sergio Ramos
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has once again opted to start with Antonio Adan in goal at the expense of club captain Iker Casillas, as Los Blancos take on Real Sociedad at Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spanish international goalkeeper was dropped in the previous La Liga match against Malaga, and, despite pressure to reinstate his captain; the Portuguese coach has once again left him on the bench.
A defensive reshuffle has also been necessary for the home side as they are without their regular centre-back pairing of Pepe and Sergio Ramos both miss out through injury and suspension respectively. Raphael Varane and Ricardo Carvalho start at the back with Michael Essien and Alvaro Arbeloa featuring in the full-back positions.
Real Sociedad have also been forced into some changes due to injuries to key players. Asier Illarramendi has failed to recover from injury and will be replaced in the centre of midfield by David Zurutuza. Carlos Martinez misses out with a hip problem with Dani Estrada coming in at the back.
