The Portugal international has insisted that the smoking incident was an isolated issue, and added that he has always given his all for any team he has represented
The Portugal international recently made the headlines for all the wrong reasons when he was pictured smoking a cigarette outside a restaurant, but Coentrao has insisted that it was an isolated incident.
"It was my birthday and it was an occasional thing. I am very disappointed with what has been written in the press because no one can say anything bad about me," Coentrao said to Record.
"I am an excellent professional, I have always given everything for the clubs I have represented and it is not fair to put everything in doubt because of one isolated act.
"Besides, it was reported that I had made a lot of noise in my house on that night and that is a complete lie."
Real Madrid will be looking to return to winning ways against Real Sociedad on Saturday after drawing their last two Liga games.
