Zanetti's positivity is helping him recover, says Inter coach Cordoba

The former Nerazzurri defender has hailed the attitude of his former team-mate following his recent operation, and says there is no doubt his playing days will continue

Inter coach Ivan Cordoba has revealed that Javier Zanetti’s natural positivity is helping him recover from a recent operation.

The Argentine went under the knife late last month to correct an Achilles problem, and former team-mate Cordoba has revealed the 39-year-old is in good spirits as he begins his lengthy rehabilitation.

“Javier is fine. Along with my dad he's the most positive person I've ever met. He can't wait to leave the hospital and get on with his rehab,”  Cordoba told Rai Sport.

“The first thing he thinks about is finding a solution to the problem. He's always been like that and that's the way he sees it now. Of course, he's very important for this team because of what he gives us on the pitch, but just having him around is a massive help too.

"He'll soon be back at La Pinetina [Inter's training ground] to get behind the lads and to make sure they do well.”

There had been suggestions that the operation would force the 39-year-old to consider retirement, but Cordoba has insisted the Argentina icon's playing days are not over yet.

“Yes, you can take it from me, he will play again,” he stated.
