The Biancocelesti official was quoted as saying that the Italian club had snapped up the Brazilian defender, but he insists his words were misinterpretedLazio director of sport Igli Tare has dismissed a report that the club have completed the signing of Breno on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.
The Albanian was quoted by Kicker as saying that the Biancocelesti had secured the services of the Brazilian defender, who is currently awaiting the outcome of his arson trial.
However, Tare has explained that while the Romans are keen to bring Breno to the Stadio Olimpico, nothing has been agreed as of yet.
"He's a player that we are following - there is no doubt about that - but the German newspaper has misinterpreted my words," he told Lazio Style Radio.
"When they asked me about Breno I replied that we have a strong interest in the player. But I have nothing official.
"Also because we should not forget that the player is still on trial and we are awaiting the verdict."
Meanwhile, Ederson's agent claimed earlier this week that his client is also bound for the Italian capital but, again, Tare insists that the proposed deal for the Lyon midfielder has yet to be finalised.
"With Ederson we have been in contact with his agent in recent months," the 38-year-old explained. "I think there is a good chance that in the future he could become a Lazio player.
"But we need to define some details, so even in this case we cannot give any official confirmation.
"There are many players that Lazio are following, now that the Biancocelesti have again become a big side."
Lazio finished fourth in Serie A last season, but are currently without a coach following the resignation of Edy Reja.
