PM Lee drops in at World Cup screening

The Singapore Prime Minister caught the exciting showdown between Australia and Netherlands with fans gathered at Cheng San CC
Football fans gathered to watch the 'Live' telecast of a World Cup match at Cheng San Comunity Centre (CC) on Wednesday night, were treated to a surprise guest.

PM Lee who had attended a Meet-the-People session at his Teck Ghee constituency earlier that night, made his way to the CC to catch the game between Australia and Netherlands, he revealed on his official Facebook page.

The social media post was accompanied by a photo, taken as Tim Cahill fired in a stunning volley, to level the match for Australia.

"Netherlands eventually won 3-2, but the match was much more even than I had expected," commented PM Lee.

The People's Association will be hosting 'Live' screening sessions of World Cup matches at 40 CCs across Singapore.

Australia, meanwhile, were eliminated from the World Cup following the defeat to the Dutch, while their victors sealed progress to the next round along with Chile who overcame Spain 2-0.
