German striker Thomas Müller scored a hat-trick in the opener against Portugal and not only took an early lead in the Golden Boot and Golden Ball races, he also put himself in position to challenge Ronaldo's record of 15 goals in the World Cup. The Bayern München star has now eight goals in seven World Cup matches, while Ronaldo needed 10 matches to reach the same number.
