Former Singapore striker Agu Casmir is set to don Warriors FC colours after the club announced his signing on Wednesday night.
The uniformed giants revealed on their official Facebook page that they have secured the services of the 30-year-old from Persebaya Surabaya. This signals Agu's return to the S.League since last playing for now-defunct Gombak United in 2010.
The naturalised Nigerian forward had joined the Indonesia Super League side in January this year following a successful trial, ending a year-long search for a new club. However, the club was prepared to find a replacement for Agu after just one month, which was reported by Goal in February.
Former LionsXII player Agu has rarely featured for Persebaya since signing for them and will be keen to make a fresh start with the Warriors, who are currently third in the table and one point behind leaders Brunei DPMM.
In addition, the Warriors have also brought in defender Ismail Yunos from rivals Home United. The 27-year-old, who can play at both right-back and centre-back, has made 14 appearances for the Protectors this season, although he has not featured of late. He should get the chance to do so under Alex Weaver, with Jeremy Chiang ruled out for the rest of the season.
“It’s a couple of very good additions to our squad”, Weaver stated in a club press release. “We’ve worked hard to get them in and I think they will do very well for us. I’m looking forward to working with them.
"Both have international experience with Ismail bringing extra physical qualities defensively and Agu will add some firepower up front. It’s exciting."
