Goal Singapore readers tip LionsXII to beat Pahang

Fandi Ahmad will lead his new side into battle for the first time in Friday's Charity Shield, which also doubles up as the first Malaysian Super League game
It is the day everyone has been waiting for - the LionsXII will finally get their season underway tonight when they take on Pahang FA in the Charity Shield.

With the game at Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan also doubling up as a Malaysian Super League (MSL) game, there will be points at stake as Fandi Ahmad makes his competitive debut.

The Singapore legend will be keen to get off to a winning start, having been the overwhelming choice to replace title-winning V. Sundramoorthy. With his new side possessing an average age of 22.5 years and key players like Hariss Harun, Shahril Ishak and Baihakki Khaizan gone, it will be a daunting first challenge against the Malaysia Cup winners.

But the majority of Goal Singapore readers believe the LionsXII have what it takes to bring home the Shield, with 72.3% predicting a win for the young side.

If they are to triumph, the likes of captain Isa Halim, centre-back Safuwan Baharudin, goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud and striker Khairul Amri will have to provide the leadership and experience to guide the rest of their team-mates.

The game between the LionsXII and Pahang will be played tonight at 8.45p.m and you can follow all the action "LIVE" on Goal Singapore!
