Tanjong Pagar United appear to have made Bishan Stadium a hunting ground for new signings for the 2014 S.League season, with the club bolstering their squad with three former Home United players.
Over the course of last week, ex-Protectors Firdaus Idros, Masrezwan Masturi and Nor Azli Yusoff were revealed to have joined the Jaguars. Ruzaini Zainal also arrives from league champions Tampines Rovers, along with League Cup winner Tengku Mushadad from Balestier Khalsa.
Winger Firdaus and utility player Masrezwan were both key in helping Home to second place in the league and the Singapore Cup trophy, as they displayed the sort of spirit and mentality that convinced Tanjong Pagar coach Patrick Vallee to sign them.
"He (Masrezwan) can play in many positions but his natural position is of a forward and I believe he will be able to score some goals when given the chance," the Frenchman told the club's website.
"But the key factor that made me bring him to TPUFC is his spirit and mentality. He never gives up and that is one important mentality I always want to have in our squad.
"Firdaus is technically gifted as well as speedy. Firdaus fits our [winning] mentality and he will definitely bring more value to the club."
All five players have already expressed their desire to do well and gun for a trophy with their new side in the upcoming campaign, which is expected to start in late February.
The Jaguars had earlier revealed in November last year a list of 10 players retained for the season, with Frenchman Ismael Benahmed both released. Goalkeeper Aurelien Herisson, playmaker Kamel Ramdani and versatile midfielder Ahmad Latiff are the notable ones to have stayed. While marquee signing Monsef Zerka was not on the list, he has since been confirmed to have penned a new contract as well.
Vallee led Tanjong Pagar to a sixth-placed finish in the 2013 season in his first season in charge, as well as to the Singapore Cup final where they lost to Home.
