thumbnail Hello,

The S.League club joined forces with Kowloon Club Singapore to organise a football carnival to raise funds for needy students

S.League club Geylang International FC did their bit for charity over the weekend after organising a football carnival for needy students.

Called “Children – Our Future, Soccer Carnival,” the event was jointly organised by the Eagles and the Kowloon Club Singapore (HK Immigrants Association) on Saturday at the ITE College East stadium.

The event kicked off with four Under-12 kids teams - Bedok Green A and B teams, GIFC U12 and Fengshan Primary team - playing against each other.

The main event of the carnival was the exhibition match between Singapore Ex-Internationals and Kowloon Club Selection. The Ex-International team included the likes of former greats and legends such as Suriamurthy, Nazri Nasir, Ho Kwang Hock, Azahar Baksin, Md Noor Ali, Richard Bok and Rizal Hassan.

The Kowloon Club selection was not awed by the stars and gave a creditable performance on the pitch. The legends were made to work hard and eventually won the game 4-1.

Samad Alipitchay was also present for the event to present the Kowloon Club Challenge Trophy to the winning team, before the evening ended off with song and dance performances by various artistes.

The Eagles have gone through a massive change of personnel since the season ended, with only Joey Sim, Khairulnizam Jumahat, Fabian Kwok, Nurhazwan Norasikin, Jalal and Shah Hirul retained in the squad.

While the club has acquired the services of established S.League players Hafiz Nor, Hamqaamal Shah, Aliff Shafaein and Mustaqim Manzur, it is their foreign signings that have caught the eye.

Apart from bringing in defenders Yuki Ichikawa and Kento Fukuda from Albirex Niigata, the Eagles have signed three Argentinean players after coach V.Kanan went on a scouting trip to Argentina: striker Leonel Felice, playmaker Franco Chivilo and 18-year-old midfielder Joaquin Lopez.
