The Metz FC starlet and LionsXII vice-captain have both been named as part of a 30-man team along with stars like Safuwan Baharudin, Izwan Mahbud as they aim for gold
The Under-23 national squad is filled with notable names from the LionsXII and the Courts Young Lions, with Adam Swandi the only player not from either club.
Established players who have already played for the senior national team such as Hariss Harun, Safuwan Baharudin and Izwan Mahbud have also been included in the squad.
New head coach of the team, Aide Iskandar, expressed his optimism ahead of the SEA Games.
“We have a committed group of players in this squad who are determined to earn a place to travel to Myanmar,” Aide said.
“Most of these players recently participated in international friendly matches and tournaments, with some having been a part of the senior national side.
“The team is ready to do Singapore proud in the upcoming SEA Games and I am certain that the players will work hard to do well in the competition.”
FAS President Zainudin Nordin recently set a target for the Under-23 team to reach the final of the SEA Games at the end of the year.
