Singaporean coach Stephen Ng will lead the Brunei U16 team for the AFC U16 Championship in Laos later this month
The National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) have appointed Stephen Ng Heng Seng, a former coaching staff at now-defunct Gombak United, to be the head coach of NFABD’s U16 team.
This comes after the resignation of previous head coach Awang Ali Haji Ismail following a series of poor performances by the U16 team at the recent ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U16 Championship.
Ng will lead the U16 team for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U16 Championship which will be held from September 21 to 29, in Vientiane, Laos. The appointment will take effect from September 5.
Stephen Ng will also be responsible for the development of grassroots football in Brunei as well as be part of the team for the overall development of football in Brunei Darussalam.
Ng, was previously assistant coach at Gombak United, who decided to sit out the 2013 S.League season following financial issues. He was also a former Singapore international, having played for the Lions as a goalkeeper in the 1990s.
