The Woodlands coach was delighted with his side's momentum but was cautious in declaring work was done
It is good times at the Woodlands camp after the Rams romped to a second 5-2 victory of the season, the latest over the developmental squad of Courts Young Lions.
Moon Soon Ho was the man of the hour as he grabbed a hat-trick, while Chang Jo Yoon and Ang Zhiwei got a goal each for themselves in the second half.
Sherif El-Masri and Sahil Suhaimi scored for Aide Iskandar’s side but it was not enough to prevent their team from registering one of their heaviest defeats of the season.
The result came at the back of a morale boosting victory a week earlier over Albirex Niigata (S) at the Jurong East Stadium and the recent results have put a huge smile on coach Salim Moin's face.
“I feel happy with the win and I like the players’ fighting spirit,” said Salim to Goal Singapore.
“Even at 1-1, my players came back very strongly and scored the second goal and this is the attitude that I enjoy.”
While confidence is high in the camp, Salim felt that the season is far from over and it will take a few more wins before they are able to meet their objectives.
“I should say another two or three games before I can see whether I am able to achieve my top three targets this season,” added the former Singapore international.
“I always have a strong feeling that such a day would come to this club, to the point where the momentum is there and the players really enjoy themselves.
“The fitness, movement and the understanding between the players is there and this is [the result of the] hard work by the players.
Salim’s opposite number Aide Iskandar acknowledged the superiority of their opponents and praised hat-trick hero Moon.
“Credit has to be given to Woodlands as they were the better side and they are a far more experienced side compared to us,” conceded a visibly defeated Aide.
“We made it difficult for ourselves in terms of the goals that we conceded and I am happy in certain parts of the game but definitely not the way we conceded the goals. We lost the ball in the middle and everybody got caught and Moon is always there to pounce on us and he did well for them.”
“They have got a good striker who can win games for you.”
