Ah Boys to Men to... Footballers

Cast members from the successful local film will be playing against former Singapore internationals in a charity curtain-raiser to the Singapore Selection-Atletico Madrid game

Come May 22, six actors from the highest-grossing local film, Ah Boys to Men, will hang up their army boots. Instead, they will don football boots and rally together with celebrities from the local scene to play in a football match against Singapore’s former international footballers.

The six "Ah Boys" are Maxi Lim (Aloysius Jin aka Wayang King), Tosh Zhang (Sergeant Ong), Wang Weiliang (Lobang King), Aizuddin Nasser (Muthu Shanmugaratnam), Noah Yap (IP Man) and Charlie Goh (Tan Wei Ming aka Ah Meng). Former Lions will include Terry Patmanathan, V. Sundramoothy, Malek Awab and Lim Tong Hai.

The friendly match will be played at 6.20p.m as a curtain raiser for the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Charity Cup, which sees the Singapore Selection side facing off against La Liga's Atletico Madrid. All proceeds from the game will go towards the Singapore Olympic Foundation to help promising young athletes from humble backgrounds to chase their dreams of achieving sporting excellence.

Zhang, who is also a local YouTube star, expressed enthusiasm at being part of the event.

"It's going to be a lot of fun for us and the fans!" he said.

"There's no doubt that we will face a formidable 'enemy' on the field but at the end of the day, it's all for a very good cause.

"We are really proud to be invited to come together, in a show of support for the Singapore Olympic Foundation."

Fans can get tickets from Ticketbooth online or from their outlets, as well as AXS machines. Ticket-holders will stand a chance to win a pair of match-tickets to watch Atletico play at home against Barcelona in Spain next season. The much-coveted pair of tickets also come with a pair of complimentary return economy-class plane tickets and paid accommodation for three days and two nights, courtesy of the organisers.
