Following the news of MDA's ruling, more information regarding the cross-content sharing was given in regards to SingTel and StarHub's position in the matterGoal.com can confirm, that as owners of the broadcast rights, SingTel will control the pricing and packaging of content. StarHub will only serve as the additional platform to view the EPL. The price to subscribe on a SingTel box and StarHub box will be the same.
SingTel will remain as the point of sales which means customers still have to go to SingTel shops to sign up for EPL. They need to inform SingTel that they want to subscribe EPL on a StarHub box and SingTel will bill them, making them customers of SingTel.
Liverpool fan, Mat Hisyam, told Goal Singapore that he welcomes this move given the fact he prefers the programming on StarHub TV.
“I like this idea because most of the TV channels that my family watches are on StarHub TV,” said Hisyam
“Since SingTel took over the EPL rights, we have not subscribed to EPL as it seemed troublesome to have two set-top boxes in our home. But with this new plan, we will definitely be subscribing again."
