The 15-year-old made it known via his Twitter account that he will "Be back for Lion City" which runs from 8 to 16 June, and coincides with his school break that ends in September.
"I am very grateful for this opportunity to play for Singapore in the 25th Canon Lion City Cup," he told Goal Singapore.
"I will play my very best for the team and hope for the best. It is also a great opportunity for our team to gain experience and to see where we stand at a youth level.
When asked if he would move on to represent Singapore in the senior age groups and eventually the senior team, Irfan replied: "Yes, I would."
Irfan along with his brother Ikhsan are currently in Spain training with Hercules' youth team in hopes of securing a professional contract.
Fandi had said in an earlier interview with Goal.com that although Irfan would like to represent Singapore, he will not force any of his children to don the Lions' red jersey, and would leave the decision up to them.
