While there is no doubt that several new players have grabbed the headlines in the opening rounds of the 2013 S.League, there was very little debate in choosing the S.League Player of the Month for March.
Khalid Hamdaoui already has four goals and two assists to his name after just six matches (two goals from four matches in March alone). His consistency week in, week out gave him the edge over another player of Moroccan descent, Tanjong Pagar's Monzef Zerka, for this month's accolade.
Technically proficient and tactically aware, Hamdaoui has been the central figure in Woodlands Wellington's attacking moves with his deft touches and astute vision. His goal against Home United at Bishan Stadium was a particular joy to watch as the Rams recorded the first of two major upsets in March, the other being the surprise 2-1 win over league-leaders Albirex Niigata (S) where Hamdaoui was once again a pivotal figure. Although the former Ajax trainee does not bear the marquee-signing tag, he has clearly outshone his peers.
