Local football fans will have at least one famous name to look out for in the upcoming 2013 season of the S.League.
Singapore Armed Forces FC (SAFFC) confirmed the signing of midfielder Kazuyuki Toda on Saturday. The former Japan international was last at J.League Division 2 side Machida Zelvia.
A prominent member of the Japanese national set-up in the late 90s and early 2000s, Toda turned out for the Blue Samurais at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championship and the 2000 Olympic football competition.
Following a successful spell for the Japanese side at the 2002 World Cup in Japan-Korea, the then Shimizu S-Pulse player went on loan to English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in 2003. Toda also featured for Dutch side ADO Den Haag the following year in another brief loan spell.
Apart from a short stay with Gyeongnam FC in the Korean League, Toda spent most of his career in Japan.
SAFFC officials and members of the fanclub were in attendance at Changi Airport on Saturday afternoon as they awaited the arrival of the Warriors' latest signing.
