Despite a regular on the bench for LionsXII, Sufian Anuar scored several crucial goals in the 2012 Malaysian Super League, with one of those being an injury time winner against Terengganu at the Stadium Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah in June.
That was his fifth strike of the season, with previous goals against Sabah, Kedah, Selangor and Felda United, all on home soil at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
While his taste of Malaysian league football lasted only a season, the 25-year-old is raring to go with new club Singapore Armed Forces FC [SAFFC] in the S.League.
“I am honoured to be here at SAFFC and also looking forward to the AFC Cup and all the competitions. I am excited and looking forward to the season starting.” the former Home United player said.
Having played in front of a capacity crowd during his time at the LionsXII, Sufian hopes the same atmosphere can be created in the S.League.
“The crowd plays a big role and I hope the fans will come out and support the league because it will be a morale booster to the players. We do appreciate the fans that come and support us and the S.League," he explained.
With slightly more than a month until the new campaign commences, Sufian is using every opportunity to adapt to his new environment and he hopes for a smooth journey at his new club.
“For me, it is up to me to meet the standards. I am new here and trying to gel with the rest of the players and also the management," he said.
"I hope that everything will go well for me and I hope the team and I will produce results in the upcoming season.”
